ShopTrac Pro PDF Brochure | A Day in the Life

The ShopTrac Pro solution from Kronos puts you in control of your manufacturing operations by capturing time, labor, and throughput at every stage of the production process. ShopTrac Pro gives you a window into your shop floor, providing visibility to the information you need to make better decisions. ShopTrac Pro gives you the tools to:

  • Increase labor productivity
  • Reduce operational costs
  • Ensure quality control
  • Improve customer responsiveness

By processing shop floor data in real time, ShopTrac Pro can provide you with up-to-the-minute information on your production costs, the location and status of every job on the shop floor, and the projected completion time for each job. This information helps you make better decisions about your manufacturing cycles, minimize product costs, and improve production efficiencies - so you can make your operation more competitive.

ShopTrac Pro Components:

Time & Attendance. Automating the collection of employee hours is the basis for managing your labor resources more effectively. Payroll accuracy is increased through the elimination of manual errors by applying correct wage rates and shift premiums fairly and consistently. Supervisors can monitor and track their employees' activities by work center, labor code, job classification, and shift.

ShopTrac Pro's Time and Attendance module captures each employee's in- and out-times, and lets supervisors generate a number of standard, on-demand reports. Reports detail all hours worked by employee or department, reflecting straight, overtime and double time, as well as excused paid and non-paid time off. These reports are an effective management tool because they provide frontline supervisors with the information they need to proactively manage their employees.

Labor Allocation. To measure the profitability of current jobs and make better decisions about labor utilization, you need to know precisely where your labor costs are being incurred today.

The Labor Allocation module captures and reports the hours worked by an employee, work order, operation, and department - letting you calculate labor efficiency based on standard and earned hours. Employees can log onto multiple jobs concurrently and track both their direct and indirect time. Their labor hours are automatically reconciled with payroll hours.

Real-time hours are captured and can be analyzed by:

  • Employee
  • Department
  • Customer
  • Labor Code
  • Part Number
  • Project
  • Work order, Operation & Task
  • Work center

Work-in-Process. In order to quickly respond to customers' needs, you must know the status of your production schedule at all times. As each employee starts and stops a job, that information is collected and reported in ShopTrac Pro and shared with other applications such as ERP, quality control, and production planning and inventory.

The Work-in-Process (WIP) module provides work status for every operation: from set-up to inspection. The module can report on job details (i.e. start/completion dates and times, and quantities completed, scrapped, and reworked) for any job within a work center, as well as provide current status information. WIP can be tracked by job number or by machine. Quantity validation between operations is ensured, even when units-of-measure change.

The module's functionality encompasses tracking labor for work order splits, rework orders, and parent/child work order relationships. You can look at any of the labor hours associated with a work order, project, machine, or customer. The WIP software also prints bar-coded travelers, work order labels, and templates.

Quality. Accurate measurement of shop floor quality requires that you know production output vs. net yield. ShopTrac Pro's Quality module gives you immediate feedback - either by operation or employee - on how much and what type of scrap is occurring and its overall effect on production output. Employees can perform independent inspection operations or inspect parts during production operations.

ShopTrac Pro provides information on yield, including accepted, rejected, and scrap quantities by:

  • Scrap reason code (user-defined)
  • Work order
  • Work center
  • Part number
  • Customer
  • Employee
  • Machine

Productivity Analysis. With accurate data on employee hours and activities, ShopTrac Pro can quickly calculate your production efficiencies by comparing actual labor data against standards. Through productivity analysis, you can measure performance and analyze labor costs by employee, operation, customer, part number, work order, department or work center. This information lets supervisors make proactive decisions that directly affect productivity.

Optional Components:

Team Tracking. Depending on your production environment, you may need to know labor hours spent by team in addition to individual employee. The Team Tracking module lets you report hours by individual or team or any combination. This flexibility gives you the ability to analyze efficiencies at both the team and individual level. In total, ShopTrac Pro works within your environment by letting you report production in the way you actually schedule your labor resources.

Electronic Timecard. The Electronic Timecard module allows users to enter jobs and corresponding hours from any workstation in addition to entry from data collection devices. This functionality allows you to expand your shop floor labor tracking to include salaried workers who need to charge their time to direction production operations.
